Provence is a geographical region and historical province of southeastern France extending from the left bank of the lower Rhône River to the west to the Italian border to the east. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the south. The region’s largest city is Marseille. Provence includes the Camargue, Western Europe’s largest river delta, and home to more than 400 species of birds, insects, bulls and the Camargue horse.
