Big Sur is on the central coast of California where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise from the Pacific Ocean and includes the segment of California State Route 1 from Carmel south to San Simeon. Its rugged coastline attracts photographers from all over the world. The route along Route 1 ranges from beaches to high Pacific panoramas. This 90 mile stretch of highway showcases oceanfront cliffs and secluded canyons around every turn. Points of interest include Bixby Creek Bridge, Point Sur Lighthouse, McWay Falls, Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve, Sand Dollar Beach, Jade Cove, Morro Rock, and Pfeiffer Beach.
