Stu Porter was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Malawi and South Africa. His interest in African wildlife began at an early age.
In 2000, Stu qualified as a safari guide and worked in South Africa’s flagship reserve, the Kruger National Park. In 2003 he obtained a university degree in wildlife photography from Lancaster University in the UK.
Stu and his wife, Justyna, started their own photographic safari business (WILD4 African Photo Safaris), specialising in African wildlife photo tours. Their family-owned and operated company arranges small group extended photography tours to Africa’s photo hotspots, including Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa, and Namibia.
Stu’s passion is to teach photographic skills and techniques in an African wildlife context. His experience as a safari guide also allows him to teach the critical element of interpreting animal behaviour. This combination enables participants on Stu’s safaris to achieve interesting and engaging images.
Stu’s wealth of knowledge gathered over many years in the photographic safari industry means that he knows precisely what photographers want.
He has built solid relationships with guides, camps and safari operators all over Africa that share his professionalism and attention to photographic detail.
These details are the building blocks of a successful and enjoyable photo safari.
