Robert Benson is a retired Texas A&M University professor of physics and astronomy, and was the founder of the TAMU – Center for Bioacoustics. He is an active nature tourism guide and is a recognized expert on South Texas birds. He is a published photographer and novelist. Dr. Benson is a land management consultant specializing in enhancing habitat quality for the denizens of the Texas brush.
He is a past president of the Texas Ornithological Society and past Editor of their Bulletin. Robert, and his wife Karen, are proud owners of a little piece of the Brush Country just north of Beeville, Texas.
