I am Ohio-based Professional Photographer and Photography Instructor Jim Crotty. I’ve been leading and teaching nature photography workshops in Ohio since 2009. I teach courses on digital photography at the Middletown Arts Center. I love to teach just as much as I love to photograph and it shows in the response and feedback from my workshop students. My emphasis is on encouraging a learning atmosphere that is fun and fulfilling and I believe that photography workshop participants can learn from both each other and the instructor.
Before entering photography as a full time endeavor I had worked in corporate human resources management and marketing/communications, in a several industries. I have also taught as an adjunct professor of communications at area colleges. I’ve been actively involved in NANPA since 2000.
My own photographic work has been widely published in both national and regional magazines and recognized with numerous awards. I have also photographed several book covers for well-known authors.
Photography and teaching are my passions. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Management from the University of Dayton and a Master of Professional Communication from Westminster College of Salt Lake City. In addition to my educational and professional background I also served honorably in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in the 1980’s.
