NANPA will resume its long-standing tradition of hosting in-person Nature Photography Summits in odd-numbered years, beginning with the 2023 Nature Photography Summit, May 4-6, 2023, in Tucson, Arizona.

What to expect

NANPA’s Nature Photography Summit is the most inspirational event in nature photography. We bring together hundreds of nature photographers at all levels of experience to learn, connect, and share. Whether you’re interested in wildlife, landscapes, underwater, macro, micro, fine art, conservation—or all of the above—you’ll find something to discover at Summit.

The 2023 Nature Photography Summit and Trade Show is a gathering of hundreds of photographers, photo editors and other members of the nature photography community with a focus on learning and inspiration. Join us for a wide variety of opportunities for nature photographers at all levels of experience to meet, share their work, learn more about both the art and business of nature photography, get hands-on practice, discover new tools and services, and more.

Location

Nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Santa Catalina Mountains in the Sonoran Desert, the Westin La Paloma is set amidst beautiful grounds full of native plants, with lots of opportunities for photography just outside your room. And, there are a variety of scenic destinations nearby, from the world famous Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum to Saguaro National Park, and from old Spanish missions to botanical gardens. Go downtown for fine dining or to visit the original “old pueblo.” Head north after the Summit to the red rocks of Sedona, Monument Valley, or the Grand Canyon. There’s no shortage of places to go and things to see in Arizona!

In addition to the keynote and breakout sessions, the exhibits from vendors, and the portfolio reviews you know and love, you can also sign up for:

Optional field trips to many of those nearby photogenic locations, led by local NANPA members with intimate knowledge of the area.

A meal plan that includes breakfast and lunch, allowing you to grab and go on a field trip, or grab and gab with a fellow NANPA member or vendor.

Field trips

Head out to nearby photo locations in the Sonoran Desert landscape, wetlands that attract a variety of birds, macro opportunities in the hotel grounds, native reptiles and more! Local NANPA members who know these places well guide you to opportunities for those iconic Arizona shots.
