Wild Nevada: Desert Bighorns, Canyons, and Valley of Fire with Alyce Bender
March 10, 2023 - March 16, 2023
Spend a week exploring the Nevada desert and meet its wild inhabitants! From the stunning Aztec Sandstone formations found in Valley of Fire State Park to the off-the-beaten-path slot canyons and tiny western mining towns. Within Valley of Fire, we will meet the hardy desert bighorn sheep and their newest editions as early spring is lambing season! Further into the park we will explore the beautiful geological features such as sandy washes, ancient arches, and formations that look to have been molded from red clay by giants. After Valley of Fire, we head further north through small historic mining towns to a desert location with even more unique geological features and dark skies. We may encounter snow as we climb in elevation this time of year, but the amazing desert formations will only become even more unique when dressed for winter.
