Photographing Door County, Wisconsin – a Fall Color Gem in the Midwest with Hank Erdmann

October 8 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

When you think of US fall color destinations, you might not immediately think of the Midwest. Photographer Hank Erdmann might change your mind about that in this webinar about photographing Door County, Wisconsin in Autumn.

One of the prettiest and most diverse counties in the country, Door County, Wisconsin sits on a peninsula between Green Bay and Lake Michigan with 250 miles of shoreline, beaches, numerous parks, and thousands of acres of wilderness. It’s a nature photographer’s paradise, not only for grand vistas of autumn-tree-lined country roads and stunning beach sunsets; but also for intimate landscapes to create abstracts, patterns, textures and leafy close-ups. Door County is well forested, and autumn color here is as good as it is anywhere in the country!  Its forests are primarily northern hardwood with a great percentage of maple trees for reds and oranges as well as many species featuring a yellow leaf change. In addition to the natural environment, there are picturesque harbors and boats, farms with barns, lighthouses, and numerous roadside scenes to photograph.

For photographer Hank Erdman, Door County is like a second home, so he knows the best spots to go for photography!  Hank will be leading NANPA’s Regional Event based in Door County from October 21-24, 2024. Our Regional Event is timed for prime fall color based on actual observances over the past five years. The county’s many miles of shoreline, water and shores mix quite well with the autumn color, and on the event the group will visit sites with plenty of both environments.  Door County has a very active Land Trust entity and a county park system that we will also take advantage of making images in those preserves as well as in three of the state parks.

Join Hank on this webinar to see Door County through his viewfinder and learn more about the photo opportunities in this hidden gem. If you’d like to join Hank in person photographing as part of NANPA’s Regional Event October 21-24, 2024 we still have a few spaces available. There’s nothing like going to a special place like this with a guide who can show you where to find the best photo locations—and help you photograph them.
