As a safari destination, Kenya is iconic. The Masai Mara and Amboseli are two of the most sought out safari locations on the planet. Kenya has incredible diversity of habitats and species. Three kinds of giraffes and two zebras. Kenya is at the forefront of protecting species on the edge. And, Kenya was the stage on which “Out of Africa” and “Born Free” played out.
Our Kenya Photography Safari and Amboseli extension are designed around all of those! The timing of this safari is centered around the days when the Great Migration of the Serengeti is likely to slip across the border from the Serengeti into the Masai Mara – and we have dedicated the biggest block of time to the Masai Mara and Amboseli to take full advantage of all the photographic opportunities there, including all the big cats. And wonderful elephants in Amboseli.
This safari will get underway north of Nairobi… in the Samburu region, where we’ll have great opportunities to photograph Grevy’s zebras (I think the most beautiful zebras), gerenuk (you have to see these) and the vulturine guinea fowl (stunning).
Our next move will put us in position to photograph free roaming rhinos – both black and white. Up close – able to design images instead of just document their presence. We’ll see a lot of other wildlife and make some stunning scenery images at the Sweetwater Reserve.
Then, we’ll make a visit to Lake Elmenteita, for beautiful bird photography against the stunning backdrop of this lake. Yes to flamingos and much, much more!
After that it is all about stunning cat, wildebeest, hippo, topi, giraffe, zebra, elephant photography against the backdrops of the fabled Masai Mara and Amboseli. We will see lots of birds, as well, including fishing birds and many raptors. And we’ll watch for opportunities to put you on the edge while wildebeest and zebras charge across a river!
Many photos on the web page! You’ll see that our timing is right – and we know where to put you, when, for great photography opportunities!
Great lodges. Always electricity in your room for charging. And great safari vehicles and guides.
