Looking for a new and exciting bird photography workshop? Spend three mornings and three evenings with greater prairie chickens! We’ll be photographing age-old courting behavior as our male subjects strut, boom and fight in courtship displays to win over the ladies (hens). This behavior only happens for a short time every spring and is difficult to find since 95% of existing leks (the assembly area where the action happens) in the US are located on private ranches making it tough for photographers to gain access. In 2024 we have a super opportunity, with a highly respected rancher, to photograph these unique grassland birds.
This workshop is designed for all levels of photo enthusiasts. An understanding of basic photography principles is highly recommended. Long and fast lenses are suggested. To get you started, learn more about different grouse species at https://chicksonagrousetrip.blogspot.com/ then join us April 2024 in Colorado!
