Few animals have the magic and mystique of the polar bear. As the bears wait for the sea ice to freeze, we will take advantage of this once-a-year opportunity to capture their engaging behavior and endearing antics. Backdrops could include the beach, sea ice, local frozen ponds, rocky crevasses and fields of hoarfrost. Many females will have playful and curious cubs in tow. In addition to these amazing bears, we could see several species of foxes, and possibly encounter wolves, otters, ptarmigan and perhaps even a snowy owl.
We will be staying at a local lodge about 10k east of Churchill, Canada. An experienced bear guide qill accompany us each day to scout the best locations. We will use a passenger van so we can photograph at eye level! This is a tour, not a workshop, so participants are expected to know how to use their own equipment. Any level of photography experience is welcome! There will be a pre-trip zoom meeting to answer questions.
