BROWN BEARS, ALASKA: UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL with Frans Lanting

The brown bears of Alaska’s Katmai National Park are remarkably tolerant of people because they have not been hunted or harassed for decades. It is an extraordinary privilege to be able to walk among them—and to observe and photograph them up close and personal.
We will explore prime bear locations in a remote part of the Katmai peninsula. Float planes will enable us to take advantage of optimal local conditions. We work with local guides who know the area and the bears intimately, and we bring to this experience our own knowledge of working with wild animals on their own terms for more than 30 years.
