Brooks Range Landscapes & Aurora with Carl Johnson

September 3 - September 8

Join Alaska photographer Carl Johnson for an inspirational photography experience in Alaska’s largest and northernmost mountains, the Brooks Range!

This six day/five night journey will start in Fairbanks, where we will have a welcome dinner and talk about the plans for the week. From there, we drive the Dalton Highway into the Arctic, with stops at several photo locations as we make our way to Wiseman. From there, we will spend our days exploring the Brooks Range north of Wiseman. You will learn how to visualize and compose in a variety of landscape options, including rivers, mountains, and tundra.  Instruction will be a combination of hands-on in the field and classroom sessions back at the lodge.

On nights with clear skies, you’ll be able to view and photograph the northern lights. Our goal will be to photograph the aurora at multiple locations to provide the best diversity in landscape compositions. Be prepared to be creative, to work with a clean slate and visualize your own unique images.
