Journey into the heart of the Alaska’s Arctic mountain range, the Brooks Range, and the aurora oval. With the first night in Fairbanks, Alaska, we have dinner and receive a presentation on the science of the northern lights. The next four nights are spent in Wiseman, 270 miles north in the heart of the Brooks Range and lying directly under the aurora oval. Days and nights are spent exploring the landscape north of Wiseman on the Dalton Highway or “Haul Road.”
This Brooks Range photo workshop will focus on composition and technique for landscape and night sky photography. Be prepared for some late nights as we explore the night sky and the wonders of the aurora, but be ready to be out at early and late light to capture the impressive mountain landscape of the Brooks Range. At this time of year, we could have a mixture of brilliant aurora borealis and a mixture of early snow. Since my introduction to the region in 2007 as the Artist-in-Residence for Gates of the Arctic National Park & Preserve, I have returned to the region several times at various seasons. It is perhaps the most stunning landscape to photograph in Alaska. Join me for an adventure in the Alaskan Arctic with this Brooks Range photo workshop!
