The NANPA Foundation Announces Expanded Grant Opportunities
Alma, Illinois, October 21, 2024 The NANPA (North America Nature Photography Association) Foundation is excited to announce that through the generosity of two donors it is able to expand its usual $2500 Philip Hyde grant and for the 2024 grant cycle that has increased to $10,000. With these contributions, the Foundation will award two grants in 2024. Both anonymous donors have witnessed the impact of the Philip Hyde grant firsthand and believe in the mission of the Foundation and its objectives. The grant is in honor of Philip J. Hyde, primary conservation photographer for the Sierra Club whose color images of Western landscapes became a weapon against environmental degradation. Photographers receiving the grant are following in his footsteps of environmental protection through photography. The Foundation is proud that this is the 26th year awarding the grant.
The NANPA Foundation President, Sonia Wasco said, “Without the donors who support our mission of advancing awareness and appreciation of nature through photography, and the women and men working to protect our environment, the world at large would be at even greater risk of losing some of our precious natural resources. We are grateful for not only these anonymous donations but also to those who spend their careers benefitting all of us.” She continued, “Our vision is to support education, conservation, photographic opportunities, advocacy, and ethical practices in nature photography and working with photographers and the scientific community is a gift.”
The current grant cycle opens on November 1, 2024, and all applications must be submitted by November 29, 2024.
