Maybe you saw last month’s matching challenge for the NANPA Foundation but couldn’t participate (but if you did, we thank you!). Between holiday gifts and fundraising pleas from just about every charity and nonprofit organization in the universe, not to mention all our normal daily expenses, it is a tough time to scrape together yet another donation. But, what if you could make a contribution to support the work of the NANPA Foundation all year long, without having to spend a penny more than you’re already spending? That’s the idea behind NANPA Foundation’s AmazonSmile program.
Amazon is one of many corporations that donate a portion of their sales to charitable organizations. In this case, when you, as an Amazon customer, register at smile.amazon.com, and choose “NANPA Infinity Foundation” as your charity, a small portion of your purchases is donated to the Foundation.
These days I do all of my Amazon shopping through smile.amazon.com and the Amazon Foundation donates 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible items to the NANPA Foundation. (Most items are eligible—some subscriptions are not.) It doesn’t cost me anything and I’m still using my existing Amazon account. Prices and selection are the same shopping through AmazonSmile as they are on regular Amazon. The user experience is the same on both. Easy peasy!
There’s also no cost to the NANPA Foundation. No administrative fees or anything. Amazon does not share names, email addresses, purchase information, or donation amounts with NANPA Foundation.
A donation of 0.5% may not sound like much, but it adds up. Over the course of a year, my normal purchases may only result in a donation of $10 or so but, if a thousand NANPA members participated, suddenly we’re talking about a lot of money.
Money that can help support NANPA Foundation programs like the Philip Hyde Conservation Grant, building new photo blinds, supporting budding student nature photographers, and other programs and activities.
It’s not often you get the chance to do good simply by doing what you’re already doing. This holiday season, and throughout the year, help NANPA Foundation advance the “awareness and appreciation of nature through photography” when you sign up for AmazonSmile and choose NANPA Infinity Foundation as your charity.
