Nature photographers are used to being outside—hiking, leading tours, teaching classes, seeking new vistas. Now that the restrictions related to the novel corona virus have most of us stuck at home and confined to the neighborhood, what can we do to scratch our nature photography itch? One enjoyable and productive way to spend your time is in learning new skills or refining your existing prowess through NANPA webinars, sponsored by Tamron.
When trips have been cancelled and opportunities to even get outside are limited, we can sit on the sofa watching Netflix and eating ice cream (which, in limited quantities, has its appeal) or we can look at the options we have to make creative and productive use of this extra time we have been granted.
Over the years, and thanks to the support of Tamron USA, NANPA has amassed quite a variety of informative presentations on topics ranging from social media to fast shutter speed, from Milky Way to macro, and from post-processing to field techniques. Each webinar is led by an experience NANPA member speaking about their individual special interests or passions.

NANPA webinars typically run 60 to 90 minutes and are packed with useful tips, how to instructions and lovely images. They’re one of my favorite benefits of NANPA membership and the complete list of upcoming and recorded webinars is available in the Members’ Area of NANPA.org.
Webinars are just one kind of resource NANPA has for nature photographers. We created a special, You Got This page with an ever-growing collection of tips, tools, training and inspiration to get us through these difficult times. We’ve even launched a database of Member-hosted Online Resources where members can list e-classes, webinars, e-books and instructional videos that they have available. It’s a natural complement to our popular Member-Hosted Events Calendar. You must be a NANPA member to post, but everyone can browse the opportunities.
Have you got a great idea for managing your business during these difficult days? Tag it #NANPAtogether on your favorite social media platform or email us at publications@nanpa.org.
Photographers are a resilient breed. We’ve seen many ups and downs in our business, from recessions to the digital disruptions in stock and magazine sales, from federal government shutdowns that closed national parks to 9/11 putting a temporary halt to travel. We’re a tough and creative community. We’ll get through this. Together. #NANPAtogether.
