Grant supports a student’s study of photography at the university level

Applications are now being accepted for the Janie Moore Greene Scholarship Grant, awarded annually to a student studying photography at a two-year or four-year college, university, art/design or photography school. The deadline for applications is 11:59 p.m. EDT on October 31, 2017.
“For many years, Janie Moore Greene has supported higher education in photography with her gift to the NANPA Foundation, and we are very grateful to her,” said John Nuhn, president of NANPA Foundation. “Her scholarship grant enables us to assist emerging photographers in their career path and uphold the Foundation’s mission of awareness and appreciation of nature through photography.”
Recipients of the award not only receive financial aid paid directly to their school but also get valuable experience completing the grant application, preparing a small portfolio and writing a variation on a personal statement—all skills which will support the artist’s long-term career.
“We are excited to support an emerging generation of photographers through this grant and other educational programs,” said Nuhn.

Past awardees include Jiayu Su in 2016, who is studying photography at Northwest College in Wyoming, and 2015 recipient Michelle A. Butler, who just recently completed her master’s degree at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
The grant is given in honor of Greene, award-winning author and photographer whose work includes Dancing Feathers, named 1995 Coffee Table Book of the Year by the National Association of Independent Publishers. Her photography has also been featured in Popular Photography, Nature Conservancy, Outdoor Photography and in a World Wildlife exhibit.
