The 2016 Grand Prize winner, Daisy Gilardini, of British Columbia Canada, has witnessed first-hand the impact her image has made on visitors to the museum as well as through press and social media. Daisy believes: “As environmental photographers, it is our duty to capture the beauty of places and species at risk and raise awareness through the universal power of imagery.” Website link: daisygilardini.com
“I have been submitting to the NBP Awards competition since 2003 after learning about it at a NANPA Summit.” Daisy’s patience in the field and tenacity in entering extraordinary images through the years was finally rewarded when her image of a polar bear mother and cubs became an immediate favorite of the Judging Panel.

The 2016 Youth Photographer of the Year, David Rosenzweig of Mineola, New York, discovered his love for animals and photography on a family vacation. His primary focus is now on wildlife and conservation photography in sub-Saharan Africa, working with rhino and big cat organizations to help save some of Africa’s most endangered species. Rosenzweig is currently a freshman at Stanford University, where he hopes to continue his pursuit of photography along with International studies. “Winning this award is an incredible honor and one has had a profound impact on my life and focus moving forward. The ability to share the beauty of nature and tell a powerful story within one single frame is the reason I love nature photography.” Website link: davidrphotos.com
All of us at Nature’s Best know David’s future is bright and his commitment so important to conservation issues.
“We are amazed every year by the extraordinary submissions from men and women of all ages and nationalities,” says Steve Freligh, CEO of Nature’s Best Photography. “These dedicated photographers create images that transport viewers into the wild. Their visual storytelling rekindles a passion for the outdoors and ignites a sense of urgency to conserve it.”
“The Windland Awards is truly a program born from imagination, led by inspiration, and fulfilled by photographers as diverse as the images themselves,” says Nature’s Best Photography Chairman, Charles Veatch. “We encourage everyone to enter their favorite images!”
